Prologue

One by one, the newly dead enter the Valley of Lost Souls. First, there are a few. Then, there are many, too many to count. Looking for comfort but finding none, the new arrivals wail and moan, filling the Valley with the sound of their pain, sorrow, and grief. The Shepherd of the Valley looks out and sees the fear in their eyes. They are terrified. All except one. She will tend to the black sheep later. For now, she has her flock to calm.
